The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is amending its rules to repeal subchapter I, entitled Motion Picture Projectionists, and section 2-81 of chapter 2 of Title 6 of the Rules of the City of New York, requiring a written examination for motion picture projectionists.

    I have no position on the proposed rule, but I think it is a bad idea for an agency to decide on its own that a “public hearing … would serve no public purpose” even if that might be permitted by the Charter.
