The Department of Buildings is proposing to add a new section regarding a program to give owners of one- and two-family homes who have not received any prior violations at the property within the past five years, or are new owners, an opportunity to correct certain violating conditions prior to receiving a notice of violation and associated penalties.

The proposed rule also amends the reinspection fee by adding a timeframe for correction of violations, extending the cure period for violations from 40 to 60 days for one- and two-family homes, clarifying that the time starts from the date of service of the notice and deleting a redundant provision.

Attendees who need reasonable accommodation for a disablity such as a sign language translation should contact the agency by calling or emailing dobrules@buildings.nyc.gov by June 21, 2021
